The performance distribution outcome was that 25% of staff were assessed as 'Top' performers. Those assessed as 'Top' performers are entitled to receive a non-consolidated performance award. We used the pay settlement date to derive the pot of money available to spend on non-consolidated performance awards. This meant the number of people whose salary costs contributed to the overall paybill was fewer than in the performance year - there were some leavers before the pay settlement date. The result is an inflated percentage of people receiving a non-consolidated performance award (28.6%) when in fact they were the original 25% of top performers.
