Proposed changes to Support for Mortgage Interest statistics
From the September 2025 publication of these statistics, we are announcing the inclusion of 2 additional elements:
-
The addition of a median measure for the average weekly loan amount to help users identify where large back payments may cause the average (mean) loan amount to appear higher for some breakdowns.
-
The addition of a statistical bulletin to add relevant context and description of recent trends to aid users鈥 interpretation of the statistics.
Additionally, we are proposing to move these statistics from a quarterly publication to a biannual (twice a year) release schedule, publishing in March and September each year.
To ensure we understand any impacts this may have on users, we are seeking feedback on this proposal. We will confirm whether we will move ahead with a reduced publication frequency within our September release.
If you have feedback on the above, please fill in by 1 September 2025.
