Ambassador joins Foreign Minister Rassoul to open Afghan Centre for Regional Cooperation
British Ambassador William Patey joined Foreign Minister Rassoul and EU Ambassador Vygaudas Usackas at the opening of Centre for Regional Cooperation at the Afghan Ministry for Foreign Affairs on 27 May

Ambassador Patey addressed an audience of invited guests including Foreign Minister Rassoul, Ambassadors, Afghan officials and diplomats to mark the opening of the Centre. He said: 鈥淚 am delighted to be attending the opening of the Centre, which the British Embassy is proud to support. Regional cooperation is crucial to the long-term stability of Afghanistan. The UK鈥檚 support for the Centre demonstrates the UK鈥檚 commitment to supporting Afghanistan to take increasing control of its own future in the region.鈥
The Centre for Regional Cooperation will strengthen the capacity of the to coordinate and deliver on Afghanistan鈥檚 regional cooperation priorities, particularly through preparing Afghanistan鈥檚 participation in regional organisations, such as the Regional Economic Cooperation Conference for Afghanistan (RECCA), the (ECO), (SAARC) and Central Asia Regional Cooperation Cooperation (CAREC).
