Foreign Office Minister responds to announcement of elections in Serbia

Minister for Europe David Lidington has spoken about the National and local elections which will take place in Serbia on 6 May.

He said:

鈥淚 welcome today鈥檚 statements by the Speaker of the Serbian Assembly that parliamentary and municipal elections held on 6 May must be in line with Serbia鈥檚 international obligations. For Serbia to hold municipal elections on the territory of Kosovo would be contrary to international law. In that regard, I welcome Serbia鈥檚 intention to consult relevant international organisations concerning the holding of elections on the territory of Kosovo.鈥�
