As a build-up to the unveiling of Mahatma Gandhi鈥檚 bronze statue at Britain鈥檚 Parliament Square in London on 14 March 2015, British Council India in association with the British High Commission New Delhi is organising various online competitions for school students to .

There are four categories and schools can submit entries in either one or all the categories.

Category 1: For students of classes 1-5

Students of classes 1-5 are invited to submit paintings on the theme 鈥楲ife of Mahatma Gandhi鈥�. The painting should be done on a standard A3 sheet of paper (11.5鈥� x 16.5鈥�) using any paint medium like oil, crayon, pencil, charcoal, etc. The painting needs to be colour scanned or photographed to the highest possible file size. The file needs to be uploaded on a file transfer site (Send Space, Drop Box, We Transfer, etc.) and the link needs to be mailed to fcoindia@gmail.com and isa.india@britishcouncil.org.

Students should mention 鈥楶ainting: Life of Mahatma Gandhi鈥� in the subject line of the email. Do not send the file as an attachment.

Category 2: For students of classes 6-8

Students of classes 6-8 are invited to submit collage on the theme 鈥業ndian Independence and Mahatma Gandhi鈥�. The collage should be done on a standard A3 sheet of paper (11.5鈥� x 16.5鈥�) using any material. The collage needs to be photographed to the highest possible file size. The file needs to be uploaded on a file transfer site (Send Space, Drop Box, We Transfer, etc.) and the link needs to be mailed to fcoindia@gmail.com and isa.india@britishcouncil.org.

Students should mention 鈥楥ollage: Indian Independence and Mahatma Gandhi鈥� in the subject line of the email. Do not send the file as an attachment.

Category 3: For students of classes 9-12

Students of classes 9-12 are invited to submit a 30-second video message on the theme 鈥榃hat message would Gandhiji give to our country if he was alive today?鈥� The video should be uploaded on YouTube and the link needs to be mailed to fcoindia@gmail.com and isa.india@britishcouncil.org.

Students should mention 鈥榁ideo Message鈥� in the subject line of the email. Do not send the file as an attachment.

Category 4: Showcasing past events of the school

Schools are also invited to submit a PowerPoint presentation (not more than 10 slides including introductory slide) showcasing any event conducted in the school in 2014 on the theme of Mahatma Gandhi. Schools can also create a Photo Story with 10 slides on the same. The PowerPoint presentation or Photo Story needs to be uploaded on a file transfer site (Send Space, Drop Box, We Transfer, etc.) and the link needs to be mailed to fcoindia@gmail.com and isa.india@britishcouncil.org.

Students should mention 鈥淧resentation鈥� in the subject line of the email. Do not send the file as an attachment.

Schools can submit entries in either one or all the categories. Any number of students can participate from the school. All submissions must have the name of the participant, school name, and address written in the email.

The last date of submission is Saturday, 7 March 2015.

Prizes and Recognition:

• all participants will receive Certificate of Participation jointly from the British High Commission and the British Council.
• three top submissions under each category will receive book vouchers as prizes.
• shortlisted submissions will be showcased in the online space to be appreciated by digital audience.
• selected submissions (paintings and collages) will be digitally published by the British Council and shared with digital audience
