Olympic Velodrome up for RIBA Stirling Prize

London 2012 venue and Lottery-funded cultural projects in running for top architecture award.

This weekend sees the award of the .ÌýThe Prize is the UK’s foremost architecture award, awarded by a jury drawn from across the architectural community.ÌýPrevious winners have included Herzog & de Meuron’s , Wilkinson Eyre’s and , all of which were funded by cash.

Nominated this year are a wide range of buildings designed by UK-based architects, among which are two Lottery-funded cutting edge cultural centres - the new in Stratford upon Avon, and , in the UK’s , Derry-Londonderry - and Hopkins Architects’ .Ìý

The award will be presented at a dinner held inside the 2001 Stirling Prize-winning Magna, Rotherham. The will broadcast a special episode announcing the winner on Sunday at 5pm.
