The British High Commission in Accra is delighted to announce that Wiyaala will perform at our annual Queen鈥檚 Birthday Party (QBP) on Thursday 23 April 2015. Celebrations will take place at the High Commissioner鈥檚 Residence. Her Majesty The Queen celebrates two birthdays each year: her actual birthday on 21 April and her official birthday on a Saturday in June. The Queen鈥檚 Birthday is celebrated by British High Commissions and embassies across the world, on or around either of these dates. Historically, official celebrations to mark the British monarch鈥檚 birthday have often taken place on a day other than their actual birthday, particularly when the actual birthday has not been in the warmer months of summer. In the United Kingdom, The Queen鈥檚 official birthday is famously marked by the Trooping of the Colour: a ceremony performed by regiments of the British and Commonwealth armies. Ghanaian Singer/songwriter Wiyaala has been praised for her creativity and vibrant music. In 2014 she won two All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) for 鈥楾he Most Promising Artiste in Africa鈥 and 鈥楾he Revelation of the African Continent鈥. Stuart Taylor of the British High Commission Accra said: 鈥渨e look forward to welcoming Wiyaala to the High Commissioner鈥檚 Residence next month. The QBP is a fun and joyous occasion and we can think of no one better than Wiyaala to get everyone dancing.鈥 Follow us on Twitter: @UkinGhana #QBP2015 to find out more about the preparations for this year鈥檚 QBP.
