Young people from Mosaic LGBT Youth Project in Poland
On 16 July, UK Ambassador hosted a group of young people from the Mosaic Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders Youth Project for coffee at his Residence.
On 16 July, the Ambassador hosted a group of young people from the Mosaic LGBT Youth Project for coffee at his Residence. The Mosaic Project is run by the Brent Council Youth & Connexions Service and provides support services to LGBT people aged between 13 and 19. The group was on a residential visit to Poland to take part in Europride and to visit Auschwitz and the Wieliczka salt mine.
The group faced the 35 degree heat to join the Ambassador in his garden for discussion on a range of topics, from how the Embassy supports LGBT rights to the Ambassador鈥檚 experience of diplomatic life in Czechoslovakia in the 1980s. They were particularly interested in how diplomats work with Ministers and the realities of diplomatic life from Warsaw to Kabul.
Lukasz Konieczka, manager of the Mosaic Project, thanked the Ambassador for taking the time to meet the group and said it was a 鈥済reat opportunity to develop their understanding of the Foreign Office and the role the Embassy has in representing the values and culture of Britain鈥�.
The Ambassador said after the meeting that he was impressed by the group鈥檚 鈥渋nsightful and at times difficult questions鈥� and hoped that the glimpse he had given them into the work of the Embassy might encourage one of them to consider a career in diplomacy in the future.
