Michelle Willis
Biography
Michelle Willis was appointed as the Acting CEO of the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) in September 2023, following over 14 years鈥� experience in the Marine Industry. Overseeing 230,000 square kilometres of diverse and vital seas鈥攏early twice the size of England鈥檚 landmass鈥擬ichelle drives innovative strategies to sustainably manage, protect, and enhance the marine environment.
Michelle was previously Director of Finance and Resources at MMO for over 10 years and has held senior positions in high-impact finance roles as a Chartered Accountant for over 23 years. Michelle holds a CCAB qualification status with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants. Her expertise includes impactful strategic stakeholder engagement, implementing comprehensive risk management frameworks, and driving effective performance and operations.
A dedicated advocate for sustainability and growth, Michelle champions the integration of sustainable renewable energy and fishing solutions into marine management, prioritising the long-term health of ocean ecosystems while supporting and protecting economic growth
