This report outlines the findings from the evaluation of the early years initial teacher training (EYITT) programme.
The programme gave extra funding for 2 routes of entry to early years initial teacher training, in the 2022 to 2023 and 2023 to 2024 academic years.
The research involved surveys of 2 cohorts of trainees, and interviews with:
- trainees
- managers with trainees
- training providers
EYITT is a Level 6 qualification, which leads to early years teacher status. It provides specialist training covering the education and care of children from birth to age 5. It is distinct from primary education.
