Details

New regulations apply to all UK organisations that import or supply packaging. The regulations mean that these organisations may be responsible for the costs of dealing with packaging waste. This is called extended producer responsibility (EPR) for packaging.

This policy statement sets out how PackUK will modulate household packaging waste disposal fees from 2026 to 2029, based on recyclability. Modulation aims to encourage producers to adopt more sustainable packaging designs.

It includes the methodology, modulation factors, treatment of medical packaging, and planned future updates. The statement supports the implementation of EPR regulations and provides clarity for obligated producers.
