Get a copy of a police caution for domestic abuse

Use this letter to get evidence a partner has been cautioned by police for domestic abuse against you, if you're applying for legal aid.

Details

To get a copy of the police caution, you should:

  • check the caution is for a聽domestic abuse offence
  • fill in as much as you can of the sample letter
  • send it to the Data Protection Officer at the聽聽that gave the caution

You may have to pay a charge for your copy.

You can use this as evidence if you鈥檙e applying for legal aid to divorce or separate from an abusive partner.

The caution must be for one of these聽domestic abuse offences.

If you鈥檙e using a lawyer, they will be able to help you.
