As Chief Constable/Commissioner, I聽fully support the principles and purpose聽of the Police Covenant.
For the first time聽in the history of policing we have an聽opportunity to build a national聽commitment which will initially prioritise聽the physical protection, health and聽wellbeing of those who work in policing聽and also in time, support for their聽families.
The Covenant priorities will聽always be informed by the voices of the聽workforce as well as research and I will聽continue to play my part in ensuring the聽priorities are translated into meaningful聽change at force level.
Importantly, the聽Covenant will provide us with an聽opportunity to share the challenges of聽policing more widely across聽government so that we can build聽support and recognition for the vitally聽important contribution of police officers聽and staff as they work tirelessly to keep聽us safe.
