Research Paper:聽Is support for democracy eroding in the UK?聽

Following the publication of surveys earlier in the year suggesting that younger people are more likely to support strong leaders and are frustrated with democracy, the Committee on Standards in Public Life commissioned Jos茅 Pedro Lopes, University of Manchester, to undertake some research.

Jos茅 Pedro Lopes鈥� paper asks two central questions: (1) how widespread is support for a strong leader who is able to circumvent parliamentary procedures and electoral processes in the United Kingdom; and (2) who is more likely to endorse such a model of governance.
