Details
The Quantum Skills Taskforce is a sector-wide coalition chaired by Professor Sheila Rowan CBE FRS, including representatives from:
- industry
- academia
- professional societies
- national labs, and
- government departments and agencies
The taskforce has considered the current and future skills needs of the sector, and how these needs could be met. This report summarises the findings of the taskforce.
It is intended as a guide to enable the whole quantum sector to take these findings forward. This includes the business and research institutions leading work to capitalise on the potential of quantum, as well as the government bodies, learned societies and trade associations that are supporting them.
The government will now consider these recommendations, to support and inform future quantum programmes and policy development.

The average salary for those working in the quantum sector has been corrected from 拢60,000 to 拢50,000, with additional information on the calculation of this average salary also added. This information is set out in the 'Skills needs of the sector' section of the report, and the 'Taskforce Additional Evidence Annex'. The previous average salary was based on the number of employees in the quantum sector at the end of the tax year, while the corrected figure is based on the total number of employees over the whole tax year.
